Tomorrow, ABC Radio National Science presenter Robyn Williams will be listing his picks for Australia’s Hottest 100 Scientists.
Williams is an official national Australian icon, and a winner in 2015 of a lifetime achievement award for his first 40 years leading RN’s Science Show.
Cosmos has had a sneak peek of his list, and it’s a doozy – plenty of great stories and fascinating ideas from a huge array of scientists, both living and dead. We’re posting half of it below as a teaser.
The point of the exercise, says Williams, is not to rank people, but to learn more about Australian science – and particularly scientists from your local area.
So: can you name 3 local scientists who you think should make the cut? If not, the list might help you find some new favourites.
Williams will be announcing the full list on Radio National tomorrow.
But for now, here’s 50 of the Hottest 100 Australian Scientists. Each name is linked to a bit more information about the scientist in question. How many had you heard of? And who else do you think should make the cut? Let us know at [email protected].
