The Australian Energy Market Operator has said more than 10,000km of new transmission lines are needed to meet our renewable energy targets. This means new transmission towers across regional Australia.

In this Cosmos Country podcast, Glenn Morrison and Marie Low talk with Associate Professor Ken Karipidis from the Australian Radiation Protection and Nuclear Safety Agency (ARPANSA) about any health risks posed by transmission lines. They are also joined by Jacqui Gidley-Baird, a farmer from Dungowan in New South Wales, who has been told her family’s property will be the location for two new 500 kilovolt transmission towers.
