Tinder users at the SXSW festival in Austin, Texas, have been taken in by a bot on the dating app posing as a 25-year-old woman named Ava. AdWeek has published the following exchange…
But when Brock looked at Ava’s Instagram account, instead of the woman, there was a photo and a video promoting Ex Machina, a sci-fi film.
The photo of “Ava” is really of Swedish actress Alicia Vikander, who plays an artificial intelligence in the movie.
The exchange recalls the Turing test – a test of a machine’s ability to exhibit intelligent behaviour indistinguishable from that of a human devised by Alan Turing.
