The Large Millimetre Telescope on the summit of Sierra Negra, an extinct volcano in Mexico.
A next-generation millimetre-wavelength camera – the most sensitive on Earth – will be added to the telescope by a team from the University of Massachusetts Amherst and Mexico’s Instituto Nacional de Astrofísica, Óptica y Electrónica.
It is expected to be operational by late 2018.
