Three of Jupiter’s moons captured in a rare row

Three of Jupiter’s largest moons – Callisto, Europa and Io – were captured by the Hubble space telescope in January travelling across the gas giant’s surface together.

To see the three moons transiting the face of Jupiter is rare – it happens about twice every 10 years. Ganymede, the largest of Jupiter’s moons, is missing from the show because it was too far away at the time.
