Australia is getting drier. But at the same time, it’s getting hotter. And that means we have to worry more about the quality of what water we have.
The CSIRO’s on the case. In this episode of Cosmos Country, Jamie Seidel and Marie Low talk to AquaWatch mission lead Dr Alex Held about the roll-out of a series of trial sites across rural and regional Australia with the goal of setting up a water-quality “forecast” system.
The goal is to give agriculturalists, aquaculturalists and urban centres advanced notice of potentially devastating events.
The Ultramarine project – focussing on research and innovation in our marine environments – is supported by Minderoo Foundation's Flourishing Oceans initiative.
