Here’s a closer look at Gentoo penguins.

Gentoos are easily recognisable by their distinctive white patch above their eyes and bright orange-red beak.

They are the fastest swimmers among penguins, reaching speeds of 30 km/h.

Gentoos excrete excess salt through a special gland, allowing them to thrive without fresh water.

Growing up to 90cm tall and weighing over 8kg, they’re the second-largest Antarctic penguin (Emperor penguins being the largest).
