Wingsuit fliers swoops over active volcano

The Red Bull Skydive Team takes to the sky above Mount Bromo, an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia.

Bromo, which is located in the centre of the Sandsea Caldera, last erupted was in 2004. The caldera formed around 8,000 years ago in a massive eruption. The volcano tends to have to have relatively small eruptions, involving small lava flows rather than the large pyroclastic flows of other Indonesian volcanos.

Indonesia has been responsible for some of the largest volcanic explosions in history, including the famous explosion of Krakatoa in 1883 and the lesser-known Tambora, which was responsible for creating Europe’s “year without summer” in 1816.
