Steve Wozniak debunks Apple garage start-up myth

Historic site or just a garage: Steve Jobs’ childhood home at 2066 Crist Drive in Los Altos

Apple co-founder Steve Wozniak says the idea of the company starting in a garage is not entirely true, even though most people believe it and the idea inspired a movie.

"The garage is a bit of a myth, it's overblown," Wozniak said in an interview with Bloomberg TV.

"The garage represents us better than anything else, but we did no designs there. We would drive the finished products to the garage, make them work, and then we'd drive them down to the store that paid us cash."

The story according to the historic commission in Los Altos goes that the garage in Steve Job's childhood home was the site where the "Apple Computer Company was founded and the first 50 to 100 Apple computers were assembled".

The commission even named it an historic site in 2013.
