Jetpack joyride – this time, it's in Monaco

After zooming around the Statue of Liberty in New York last year, JetPack Aviation gave their newest model a test-fly in the European principality.

Jetpack Aviation's JB-10 model made its debut in Europe last week, with the company's CEO David Mayman departing from the Monaco heliport and soaring over the breakwater of Port of Fontvieille.

Last year, he zoomed around the Statue of Liberty with the JB-9 model.

Its successor, though, is projected to be able to hit 160 kilometres per hour, reach altitudes more than 3,000 metres and fly more than 10 minutes at a time.

The JB-10, company co-founder and chief engineer Nelson Tyler said in a press release, has a wide range of potential applications and commercial uses.

"It would be wonderful if one day our jetpack opens the door to a vast new industry of affordable personal air transportation with applications for search and rescue, law enforcement, disaster relief and recreation.”
