Textbook landing for SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket

After two failed attempts, SpaceX’s Falcon 9 rocket has made history when it launched into space and successfully returned to Earth, landing upright at Florida’s Cape Canaveral.

Reusable rockets are set to make space travel a lot cheaper. Rockets cost around $16 million to build and none until recently have been reusable.

At only $200,000 to fuel there are obvious and significant cost savings.

Jeff Bezos’ private spaceflight company Blue Origin has also successfully landed a rocket back on Earth, but the Falcon 9 is designed to go much higher and faster into space.

Fo background on the launch see the SpaceX website.
