Folbigg case: timelines compared

Timeline comparing updates in kathleen folbigg case to genetic sequencing imporvements
This timeline compares the progress of genetic sequencing, and our understanding of the human genome, to developments in Kathleen Folbigg’s case. Created by Cosmos magazine

Genomic data was not available during the first trial of the Folbigg case. Now that technology has improved the efficiency and cost of genomic sequencing, genetic information was able to be gathered from Kathleen Folbigg and the children.

The sequenced human genome also preceded research into more specific, and often small, genetic mutations, such as CALM2 mutations, as comparing genomes was difficult.
