This briefing was originally posted on 19th August 2021.
Given our physical size, and our windy and sunny location, Australia has an unlimited capacity in sustainable electricity. Yet, when it comes to electric vehicle purchase, the country lags behind the rest of the world. Why is this the case and what’s being done to change it?
Cosmos spoke to Ben Warren, the National Manager of Electrification at Nissan Australia, and Gail Broadbent, a PhD candidate researching electric vehicle uptake at UNSW, about electric vehicles in Australia, and what can be done to get more of them. The session was hosted by Alan Duffy, Lead Scientist of the Royal Institution of Australia.
