19,874 cases were reported by states and territories this week, a 1.92% increase on the week prior.

Case numbers have now increased for three consecutive weeks. 132 deaths were reported across the  states and territories.

In New South Wales, CH.1.1 and XBB.1.5 sublineages continue to grow in number. XBB.1.5 is also the dominant strain in Victoria (accounting for nearly two in five cases). The recombinant XBF strain accounts for 3 in 10 cases. Half of South Australian variants are accounted for by BA.2 (which includes BA.2.75 and XBB).
