Europe’s latest weather satellite delivers its first image

The Spinning Enhanced Visible and Infrared Imager instrument on MSG-4, Europe’s latest geostationary weather satellite, has captured its first image of Earth.

The satellite, launched on 15 July, is expected to be fully operational in about six months.

The satellite was launched by the European Space Agency (ESA) and handed over the satellite operator, EUMETSAT, on 26 July.
